Audi A8 has confirmed that the Hybrid will begin to occur and reach the market next year. The Audi A8 Hybrid combines a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine and an electric motor that promises a consumption of 36.75 mpg in the European cycle.
The 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder develops 211 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. For its part, the electric motor develops the equivalent of 54 horsepower and can move the A8 Hybrid alone at up to 60 mph. However, autonomy with only the electric motor is only 1.86 miles.
The electrical unit is powered by a small lithium ion battery that weighs 80 lbs, and unlike the other A8 models sold in the United States, this hybrid front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive.
The Audi A8 2013 Hybrid system also has brake energy recovery charge the battery and offers acceleration from 0-60 mph in 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 146 mph.
