2011 Audi Urban Concept

Concept by Stephanie Kriebel and Stephan Bähnisch urban with the Audi presented at the IAA 2011, a technical study that our urban conurbations has in its sights. Now, the Ingolstadt-based approach to their set again saw the show and the open version: the "Urban Concept". Characteristic of this beast is its flat, rotating band of windows, the doors open, unlike the closed Sportback diagonally upwards. The concept is based not aware of any role models, says Audi. It flows solely to the principles of lightweight, efficiency and reduction - not least thanks to its monocoque carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP).

Ultimately, both body variants of the urban concept show pure objects, whose design can argue about the mind. The result in both cases, a 1 +1 seat, ultra light vehicle with sporty orientation. The slender body is on free-standing 21-inch wheels. The circulating fenders are covered with LED light pipes. The two passengers board the Audi urban concept over the side and then slide - easily offset one after another - in a sporty, low seating position. The domed roof can be opened to the rear. The Audi driven urban concept, and its open counterpart of two electric motors that draw their power from a lithium-ion battery.
